Patra,
While you're right that this is someone's baby... someone's attempt... AND one of their shots at making something happen, you have to keep in mind that they probably knew exactly what they were doing with the final edits. Well-grounded actors with any realistic understanding of their place in the industry generally know when they're in a flick for the paycheck and nothing else. That's part of the climb. My guess is that the main thing the production team is worried about is making their money back on the film and then some.

An Inside look at Detroit 1-8-7

Biz X Magazine interviews Executive Producer Kevin Hooks of the upcoming (Sept 21 debut) TV drama Detroit 1-8-7.

The show is already causing a stir and some critics are disappointed in the way the city of Detroit is portrayed but Hook tells Biz X, "The beauty of a place like Detroit and the fact that viewers don't really know it visually as well as some other cities like Chicago, L.A or New York is that it offers up an opportunity to make Detroit a real character in the show."

A film entitled "N-Secure." Hell it doesn't even attempt to try and blend. Taking a note of instant messages, text type or ebonics to spell out the title.

Yes, some of the actors appear pretty good but you know what, even they need a check. Half and Half is in syndication but other than that still need some green.

Nothing wrong with wanting to expect more from a film in which the trailer appears to be an ad for a chitlin circuit stage play with nice suits and incredible titles.

This was featured on the GODZILLA (1998) soundtrack that also featured the great Puff Daddy "Come With Me" track.

This was featured in a VH1 special about the worst moments in Hip Hop a few years back. Sisquo mentioned how it was one of the worst works ever. Mr. Thong Song said it was terrible.
Around that time the full pile was dumped online.

Yet Martin Weisz still got to shoot "The Hills Have Eyes 2." His Puff Daddy clip "Enemy Number One" was decent at the time. His Mel B video is a rip from Francis Lawerence beautiful Traci Spencer "It's All About You" clip, but great to see Mel B, always.

Sisquo, thats a whole other story upon the likes that there is most likely no easy start and no real end, unfortunately.

Damn Machete sure is having a tough few days. Friday it was neck and neck for American and Machete with just $100,000 between. Checked the standings yesterday and Takers was #2. Even earlier this a.m. Takers was hinted at being #2.

But due to the holiday four day type weekend. Officals will be tomorrow. The American in a foreign city V. The Mexican exploitation V. Takers aka Ripoffs.

Great post Obsidienne.

As for existing movies, everyone forgets EVENT HORIZON which starred Laurence Fishburne and Richard T. Jones in one of his first prominent roles.

One writer not mentioned here is Tananarive Due. Her bestseller "My Soul To Keep" - technically I suppose more a vampire novel/series than straight-up sci-fi/speculative fiction - was at one time optioned by Blair Underwood to be made into a film, but unfortunately it didn't happen. Between that and his other failed "Second Coming" venture is what I think gave him the kick in his pants to push forward his career like he started doing about 7 years ago. All that said, its a really good book, as are her other sci-fi novels.

How can I dump him? Easy... there are so many other films to watch, so why pay to see someone who let the world know that he could give an alley rat's tail about the Black audience? I am VERY particular about where my money goes, and I wish more Black brothers and sisters were the same way. I am sure the Jewish community will be tightening up their purse strings as far as his work is concerned.
