Hollywood Liberals On Polanski Case: We Are The World’s Moral CompassBoy, I tell ya… those Hollywood liberals sure are funny people… especially that Harvey Weinstein fellow; he sure is one hell of a funny guy. Why? The head-scratching support they’ve thrown behind Roman Polanski is unmatched! Do they honestly believe their stance is the ethical one, or is it that no one over there has the balls to actually speak the truth, because they are worried about their next gig? In a recent interview, Weinstein, who has been circulating the pro-Polanski petition, said that people generally misunderstand what happened to Polanski at sentencing, and dismissed the labeling of Hollywood by many as amoral, within this context. His words:
See what I mean? Pure comedy, right? This shit is pure comedy gold I tell ya! Let me repeat that in case you missed it… the man said: “Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion.” Compassion for Benjamin Franklin maybe… or possibly Andrew Jackson… or maybe Ulysses S. Grant. This is all coming from a man who has the industry reputation for being the king asshole of them all! The perpetual bully. If Hollywood has the best moral compass, then my post earlier today (Was Roots Enough? Slavery And The Holocaust In American Movies) won’t be at all necessary. If Hollywood had the best moral compass, all those torture porn movies that keep getting greenlit wouldn’t exist. If Hollywood had the best moral compass, there’d be more women and representation from other “minority” groups in positions of influence within the industry. If Hollywood had the best moral compass, there’d be more equity when it comes to the representations of all groups of people in the films that they produce. I could go on… Thankfully, there are some, like producer Bo Zenga (one of the few executives taking a different view) who are indeed speaking in opposition to their comrades, as Mr Zenga states…
Thank you Bo Zenga for bringing some sanity and, yes, MORALITY, where it previously was absent. Of course, it had to come from the producer of Soul Plane and Scary Movie. I love that you’ve got a spine dude, but, please, produce better movies! *Le sigh* via LATIMES 7 comments to Hollywood Liberals On Polanski Case: We Are The World’s Moral Compass |

“Hollywood has the best moral compass” – LOL. Yeah, right! The Polanski case is saddening on so many levels.
Who listens to Harvey Weinstein. It’s clear some folks in Hollywood are delusional.
What did you expect?
Those are the same people who are singin’ Woody Allen’s praises even after he married his own adopted daughter, and then turned around and played the morality role on R.Kelly.
Surprise, surprise!!!!
Guess who signed a petition to free Roman Polanski…

And don’t forget that Whoopi Goldberg on The View has also been defending Polanski saying that what he did wasn’t “rape rape”, whatever that means. But then again Whoopi is an idiot, though I have the feeling if Polanski was black she would be screaming for him to be beheaded.
I don’t see why there is even a debate about this. The man was tried and convicted for raping a child, and he took off before sentencing. He’s now been caught by a country with the balls to send him to face his punishment. The fact that he’s a highly-regarded director shouldn’t matter – the man’s a paedophile.
Years ago, Mia Farrow appeared in an episode of Biography about Polanski. They talked to her because she was in Rosemary’s Baby and I think they expected her to have some strong feeling about the charges against him, what with the unpleasantness she had with Woody Allen. But, as I recall, she said she was disappointed that he made a “bad choice”.
That said, here’s an interesting article refuting the attacks on Hollywood:
