The talented and gorgeous Senegalese actress Aissa Maiga, whose image appears regularly on the top of this site from the film Mamadou and who won the 2007 Cesar Award for most promising actress her her performance in Abderrahmane Sissako’s Bamako, plays the lead in an upcoming new thriller When the City Bites. Directed by Dominique Cabbera, the film is set in the African community of Paris in which Maige plays Sara, a young artist who recently arrives in Paris and falls into a web of prostitution corruption and murder.
The film will have its U.S. premiere at the African Diaspora Film Festival in New York in December and hopefully will be seen in other cities as well.
I’ll hopefully be seeing this next week Sunday. I’ll share my thoughts after.
