“Namibia: The Struggle for Liberation” (Milk Carton Alert!)
Made in 2007, it played at a few international film festivals, including FESPACO, the Pan African Film Festival, and I believe the African Diaspora Film Festival, in 2007/2008, but quickly disappeared, without much fanfare, despite being described as an epic movie, shot on location in Namibia, with a total running time of almost 3 hours. It was barely reviewed. It never received a theatrical release, and isn’t available on any home video format that I’m aware of (neither Amazon nor Netflix have it). So where the heck is it? Will we ever get to see it? I dunno… Did anyone happen to catch it at any film festivals or other screenings? How was it? I’d forgotten all about it until reading an article earlier today on Charles Burnett, who directed the film. Here’s its trailer as a reminder:

I saw it at the Pan African and it was DEFINITELY worthy of release. Burnett did a great job and the production value and acting were on point. A shame if it doesn’t get out there somehow?
