I agree with what they said about food addiction. Her comment about “hitting Chick Fil-A” hard is no different than a drug addict saying they are going to go hit a crack pipe or a heroin needle. And for people to say that comment made her “a great girl” or whatever. I agree with Howard, it is so phoney baloney. These are the same people that will be reporting her death in a few years and talking about “what a shame” it was. Total bottom feeders.
I cannot believe they are slamming her acting ability and saying that the only reason why she is getting roles is because of her weight and that she is a prop on film because of her size…and I cannot believe how much I would like to smack the shit out of Robin Quivers for chastizing the fact that she has the opportunity to work and grow with her craft… by saying Gabby is being rewarded for her obesity by being offered these jobs??? What kind tomfoolery is that??? If anything, it only shows that they are the only ones who can’t see beyond Gabborey’s obesity while the rest of us have moved on an recognize this young woman for the bright and engaging young actress that she is.
Well Gaby was hired partly for what she looks like. She was cast as the best actor for the job, but they needed an obese girl. Gaby is that.
Months ago I wrote on S & A about Gabby’s career opportunities after Precious long before they became an issue now and as I say now, as I did back then that her choices are going to be extremely limited, if she doesn’t lose the weight. O.K. fine she’s in a new movie and has a role in an upcoming cable series, but in the film she’s plays a bully and on the series she’s yet again another troubled teenager (I mean for she’s almost 30 years old for Christ’s sake!) There aren’t many (if any) leading roles for her and last I heard Precious II wasn’t on Lee Daniels’ slate. I agree with Stern (and as I’ve said before for the sake of disclosure I’m a hard core Stern fan and have been for many mnay years and I’m listeing to him right now like I do every morning)that Oprah wasn’t doing her any favors by telling her that she has this bright career ahead of her. I mean look at Oprah’s own slight acting career. All she’s played are helpless, downtrodden black women and obviously sees that same path for Gabby. If she thinks that’s a great film career then she’s seriously clueless.
O.K. I get it. I understand. Black women rarely get praised in the media or anywhere for their beauty and looks. Unless of couse you’re Alicia Keys which brings him the whole colorism issue that will also seriously effect Gabby’s career. (And let’s not get all upset by that comment. You know too damn well that we’re seriously affected by it.) But it’s doesn’t help her for people to ignore her serious weight isssue and act like she’s all right. This is PC gone amuck! Even Mo’Nique had to stop her annoying “I hate skinny bitches” routine when she admitted that her large weight made it diffiult for her to climb stairs and given her major health problems and had to lose weight. In the end, Zoe Saldana will always make more movies than Gabby. That’s the way of the world. Now if that gets you pissed off at me go ahead and beat me up. I feed on hate.
You can’t tell me the adorable Ms. Sidibe doesn’t have diabetes. I’m sure she does. This is not the message we want sent to young women — black or white. Every time I look at her I’m on pins and needles thinking she’s going to have a stroke any minute.
Team Stern
How much is Howard Stern loving the attention for this! He’s been off FM radio since like 2003, on a platform you have to subscribe to listen to, and he can still grab some headlines. Bravo to him for getting people all worked up and putting his name in their mouths.
Oh, speaking of Gaby and her career prospects:
