Whoopi Goldberg will be taking a break from defending Mel Gibson, fighting with The Real Housewives of DC star and the White House party-crasher, Michaele Salahi, and ranting on The View, to take over from Sheila Hancock in the role of Mother Superior, for 23 performances of Sister Act: The Musical, at the London Palladium.

Goldberg is also co-producer of the show, which is obviously based on the 1990s film she starred in; although the role she played in the film will belong to Patina Miller in the stage musical.

The show debuts tonight, August 10th, and will run through the 31st; it’ll move from the London’s West End to New York’s Broadway at the end of this year.
