Viola Davis Wanted For Shirley Chisholm Biopic!
A Shirley Chisholm biopic is in the works, and the producers of the project want Viola Davis to star as the history-making New York Congresswoman, who, in 1968, became the first black woman elected to Congress, and, in 1972, the first black candidate for a major-party, and the first woman to run for the Democratic presidential nomination. The feature film will chronicle Chisholm’s rise to Congress, as well as her historic 1972 run for the White House, which, as some of you may recall, was the focus of Shola Lynch’s 2005 documentary, Shirley Chisholm ’72: Unbought and Unbossed. I don’t know if she (Lynch) is in any way attached to this project. Regardless, I’m all for Viola in the role… trailer below for Lynch’s documentary, which is currently on the market for purchase or rental:

Viola would be an excellent choice.
I agree. Viola would be amazing.
Hello, Oscar. My name is Viola.
lol ditto!
I can definitely see her intensity that simmers just beneath the surface, absolutely killing in this flick if it is made.
I wonder if they are going to give Andrew W. Cooper any credit in the movie, since he was the one who filed a lawsuit and won which in turn gave Shirey the leeway to run for the 10th congressional district in the first place.
Kimberly Elise, would be a stalwert choice.
