The story goes… While working as an editor at Marvel Comics in 1989, frustrated with the dearth and limited portrayals of black superheroes appearing in Marvel Comics at the time, McDuffie wrote the below proposal for a series he called Teenage Negro Ninja Thrashers. Of course it was a parody, aimed to call attention to the lack of variety issue.
