Viola Davis & Cast Of “The Help” Show Footage Of Film At CinemaCon & Audience Approves + Pics

Yesterday, stars of the big-screen adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s literary best-seller The Help, were present at CinemaCon, the annual Las Vegas convention for theater owners, where they showed off some footage from the film.

Co-stars Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard and Octavia Spencer, were all there, and from what I hear and read, the footage screened (although I don’t know how many minutes) made enough of an impression on those in attendance, getting some excited for the film’s upcoming August wide release.

You know what this means… we should get our first look at the film very soon! Whether a trailer, clips, or both. August isn’t so far away. So, stay tuned…

In the meantime, check out the photos from the presentation above and below (as I said in a previous post, this film likely represents the best possibility for an Oscar nomination by a black actor/actress this year).

I’m really looking forward to this one. I know some people are turned off by the fact that the black characters are maids, but I think it could be really good.

The sleepy MississippiDelta town of Greenwood is betting that “The Help” will be a LARGE hit! Super cast, important historical message, excellent Director, great screne play and book. The Academy cannot help but take notice.

I bummed that this is the sole chance for AfrAm to be nom’d/ Must it always be that for ugly roles(precious, monster’s ball, training day, hustle flow) that we are nom’d? I think “Waiting To Exhale” shoulda been nom’d.

Isn’t it a downer that we are all so hungry to see representations of ourselves on the big screen, that we get excited about two talented, yet underappreciated, black actors getting the chance to play maids? I almost want to cry. SMDH.

Just imagine how our Latino and Asian friends must feel when they look at the movie listings every week. Where are their movie stars? And “no”, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Jackie Chan, and Jet Lee don’t count as fair representations of those racial groups. I’m talking about actors who play regular, down-home Latino and Asian Americans. SMDH.

@mr smdh: Im not excited to see this movie. I want to see it bc ALOThappened in the book so I want to see how badly the book is butchered. Stuff is ging to be cut out and condensed. This book shoulda been a mini series not a book.

Hispanics have alternatives in telemundo, telefutura, univision, galavision, azteca,.

So HW might ignore them, but they have MANY TV CHANNELS channels that DO show their ppl/culture in all avenues/levels.

AfrAm DONT. Bet sucks and Tv1 is just reruns.
Hopefully the BOUNCE( andrew young, king3rd ‘s channel)
