Win A Role In Upcoming Movie Adaptation Of Steve Harvey’s “Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man”
Last week, I announced that this was definitely a go, with a summer shoot date scheduled. Read that post HERE if you missed it. In it, producer Will Packer said that the details of the production, including its cast, will be announced tomorrow, during Steve Harvey’s radio show, so we’ll be listening for that.
In the meantime, I just received the below press release, announcing a competition search for 3 walk-on parts in the film that you, yes, YOU, can might qualify for.
The gist of it: They’re searching for 1 man and 1 woman, between 18 and 50 years old; to apply, you’re asked to videotape yourself essentially auditioning, using a script side that they provide. You’ll also have to upload a headshot, and a description of past credits, if you have any.
The site where you go to apply is www.FaceOfTheFan.com.
The deadline is May 13th.
This is all public, so, we all will be able to watch the submissions, and vote for who we think should win the roles.
Voting will end June 8th, and the 2 winners will be selected after that.
Got it? Good. News on the march… below!
Sony Pictures’ Face of the Fan® Begins Casting Call for Two Roles in Screen Gems’ Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man Based on Steve Harvey’s New York Times Bestseller
CULVER CITY, Calif., April 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Think you’ve got what it takes to be part of the new Screen Gems’ film based on Steve Harvey’s, national best-seller, Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man? The book provides no-nonsense advice about men and love from the comedian, author and syndicated talk-show host Steve Harvey. If you’re a fan of Steve Harvey or the book, and can play an age between 18 and 50, you just might be considered for a walk-on part in the upcoming movie through Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Face of the Fan® program, which has launched a casting call for the film. The film will be produced by Rainforest Films’ Will Packer, who also collaborated with Screen Gems on such hits as Stomp The Yard, This Christmas, and Takers.
By visiting www.FaceOfTheFan.com, users nationwide can participate in this casting call which is open to men and women. The program allows participants to submit audition materials for one of two roles, one for a male character and one for a female character. The audition requires the user to provide contact information, a headshot photo, and a video (two minutes or less) of the participant acting out a monologue excerpt from the book. The audition submission process will end on May 13.
Beginning on May 20, the public will be invited to become part of the casting call process and vote on up to ten men and ten women who took part in the initial online casting call in order to provide filmmakers with broader insight on who the public thinks would be the best choice for both of the roles. The public will be encouraged to share their favorite videos and rally for their choice. Each week during the voting process, a select number of men and women in the voting gallery will be eliminated from consideration based on the public vote. Those making it through to the end of the voting period may get the opportunity to interact with the film’s producers and/or be considered for a walk-on role in the film. Voting ends June 8.
Face of the Fan® launched in November 2010 and has since done casting calls for several Screen Gems’ properties. People from across the country can visit the website, download select materials to rehearse, and then upload their audition videos and other credentials for submission. Submitted videos are then reviewed by a panel of studio and production executives and select participants are considered by casting agents for possible future roles. The concept for Face of the Fan® builds on several past initiatives from Sony Pictures, in which uber-fans were chosen to participate in various marketing-related activities. Whether meeting talent on the red carpet, interviewing them at Comic-Con, or becoming guest correspondents covering the movies, these programs allowed the winning fans to get close to actors and filmmakers like never before and share their experiences online with their friends, family, and other fans.
