After hinting at it for some time now, Nickelodeon has officially announced that the cult classic variety show All That is being revived. Former star and current Saturday Night Live regular Kenan Thompson will be an executive producer. Variety exclusively broke the news.

All That was always considered to be a Saturday Night Live for tweens, spawning the careers of Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, Jamie Lynn Spears, Drake Bell and more. Its stars went on to lead their shows such as The Amanda Show, Drake & Josh, Kenan & Kel and more, as well as the film Good Burger, birthed from an All That segment. A new cast will be tapped for the revival, though former cast members could make appearances.

“We think there’s a great opportunity to find the next pool of stars,” said Nickelodeon President Brian Robbins, who co-created the show. “We want to bring the show back in a real fun way. This summer, we are going to bring back a lot of the original cast and the cast through the years, and let them introduce the new cast of ‘All That’ to the world.” He says it will be “a sort of mash-up of some of the old sketches and a lot of new sketches.”

Thompson says he didn’t hesitate to be a producer when approached by Robbins, calling it a “no brainer.” He hopes to be involved with casting and to be at the first table read. “I think it should be a staple show for Nickelodeon,” he said.

There’s no word yet on when the series would premiere, but we should expect casting news sometime soon.
