Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett and Patricia Arquette are in negotiations to star and executive produce in the Netflix feature comedy Otherhood.

The Netflix original will be directed by Cindy Chupack. Chupack, who has penned episodes of Modern Family and Everybody Loves Raymond, has adapted the script alongside fellow screenwriter Mark Andrus from the novel Whatever Makes You Happy by William Sutcliffe.

According to Deadline, the Netflix original will be a romantic comedy that chronicles the lives of three mothers who abandon their suburban lives and head to New York City, where they hope to reconnect with their estranged sons. Both Bassett and Arquette will serve as executive producers of the project.

It will be interesting to see a dramatic actress of Bassett’s caliber flex her comedic chops. The What’s Love Got to Do with It actress currently stars on the Fox drama 9-1-1 and can be seen ruling over the Kingdom of Wakanda as Queen Ramonda in the Marvel film Black Panther.
