Fresh off the release of his musical film, Guava Island, Donald Glover continues to showcase that he is one guy who is not resting on his laurels.

The multitalented entertainer released a series of short films in partnership with Adidas Originals for the launch of his shoe line. Aptly titled Donald Glover Presents, the shoe line will be a reimagining of three classic Adidas shoes: the Nizza, the Continental 80 and the Lacombe. In total, there are five short films: “Timber,” “1985,” “Avocado,” “Dusty” and “Polenta.”

The five short films accompanying the creative partnership are comical in nature. Skateboarder Na-Kel Smith makes a cameo in one of the clips. However, it’s Academy Award-winning actress and comedian Mo’Nique, appearing in all five clips, who steals the show. In “Timber,” Glover pays homage to the American folk hero, John Henry, while Mo’Nique hilariously dubs a tray of pickled daikon glaze and Japanese polenta as “bougie” in the “Polenta” clip. In the clip titled “Dusty”, Mo’Nique hilariously shades Glover’s ankles by giving him the nickname “Dusty Ass Donald” and advising him to lotion.

“Rich is a concept,” said Glover. “With this project, I wanted to encourage people to think about how their stories can be told on their feet. Value isn’t quantified by what you wear, rather the experiences from them. And you make the decision on what works for you, you live through your own lens. The partnership for me is about being able to exemplify what doing your own thing truly looks and feels like.”

Glover is just the latest entertainer to sign a partnership deal with Adidas. Recently, the sneaker line has also secured a deal with another big name: Beyoncé.
