Two Euphoria stars have dismissed the fandom’s conspiracy theories that lead character Rue (Zendaya) is dead. In two separate interviews both Jacob Elordi, who portrays Nate, and Hunter Schafer, who portrays Jules, dismissed the notion.

Elordi told Entertainment Weekly: “That is the first I’m hearing it. My feeling is that that’s pretty morbid. That’s a different show, isn’t it? I hope not.”

Also speaking with the publication, Schafer said, “I’ve heard about it because it got pretty popular. I guess you could apply that perspective if you wanted to. But I don’t really see anything that confirms that.”

Earlier in the season, we outlined the reasons why we didn’t think Rue was dead. We later doubled-down on this in a breakdown of the season finale’s musical sequence.

Euphoria returns to HBO for Season 2 in 2020.
