Kelvin Harrison Jr. has confirmed reports that he’s joining the second season of Euphoria.

It was stated earlier that Harrison’s involvement in the series was contingent upon its lead star, Zendaya. It is unclear if the HBO show or the upcoming Spider-Man 3 film is in the first position for the actress when Hollywood reopens. Still, Harrison seems to confirm that he’s in, regardless of when filming restarts.

“I wasn’t talking about it for a while but we’re in Quarantine YOLO. Yes, I’m doing Euphoria. I’m excited,” said the actor on Complex’s Watch Less podcast. “You know, right before quarantine we were about to start our first day, and then we got locked down, but the camera tests were sick, the fittings were sick, the table reads have been amazing. The scripts are so great and everyone is really excited for it. [Sam Levinson is] a great writer and a brilliant storyteller, and the aesthetic and world-building they do in that show is so unique and he really pushes boundaries, as well. So I’m excited to step into that space and do my part.”

Along with the rumors, many fans thought that Euphoria would be a perfect fit for Harrison, as his critically-acclaimed performance in Waves has been compared to the show. However, Harrison says not so fast.

“I’ll say it is nothing like Tyler [his Waves character]. I’ve never seen a character like this, period. … I don’t think a character like this…I can almost argue that it has not been done. It’s interesting, it is definitely a character of the time and that’s all I got. He’s interesting.”Though Collider first reported Harrisonb’s casting, there were heavy rumors for a while that Harrison had joined the show. Sam Levinson posted a photo of cast members after the show had to suspend production due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Harrison was in the photo and the actor also reposted the photo onto his Instagram story.

Waves is also an A24 production and the actor has also collaborated with creator Sam Levinson before, appearing in his 2018 film, Assassination Nation.
