After months of rumors and reportedly intense negotiations, Nene Leakes says she is officially not returning to The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

She confirmed the reports in a YouTube video that she posted on Thursday. The longtime star says that she and Bravo were unable to come to an agreement and that the negotiations were tiring and emotional.

“There’s been a lot of emotions on both sides,” she said. “It’s been hard and I have made a hard, difficult decision to not be part of Real Housewives of Atlanta season 13.”

Leakes said it was a hard decision. She also took time in the video talk about the show’s impact on the Black reality show genre. “I’m just so happy that I can say that I was part of a genre that opened up a door for Black ensemble reality shows/ I want to thank everybody that has looked up to me over the years, I want to thank Bravo for all the memories…Thank you to the cast for all of the memories.”

In an official statement from Bravo, they confirm her exit as well and state that she is always welcome to come back. “We wish Nene all the best in her future endeavors and thank her for sharing her journey for over a decade with the fans of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She’s been instrumental since the start and will truly be missed, and maybe one day she’ll hold the peach again,” a spokesperson told E! Online.

The upcoming season of the show is currently filming.
