Omar Epps has landed a role in one of the four Power spinoffs coming to Starz.

Epps has joined Power Book III: Raising Kanan, a ’90s-set prequel series chronicling backstory of Power character, Kanan Stark, portrayed by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. It is the only one of the four spinoffs to take place in the past.

While Epps’ exact character is not known right now, Deadline (who first broke the news), says that Epps will be playing “a major figure in the Power canon.”

The series’ first spinoff, Power Book II: Ghoststarring Mary J. Blige, Method Man, Michael Rainey Jr. and Naturi Naughton, debuts this summer.

Epps, who starred in ABC’s Resurrection and USA Network’s Shooter in the past several years, currently recurs on NBC’s This Is Us.
