MTV and Paramount+ are telling the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise, “Shantay, you stay!”

Paramount+ announced that on the heels of RuPaul’s Drag Race earning 9 Emmy nominations, the most for any reality television series in 2023, the streamer and MTV have renewed the flagship show as well as RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked. RuPaul’s Drag Race will introduce a new group of queens on its 16th season, 15 years after the first-ever episode of the series aired in 2009. This will be the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.

The franchise also used its influence to raise awareness and funds for fighting against anti-LGBTQ legislation across the country by creating the first-ever Drag Defense Fund. MTV and RuPaul’s Drag Race also donated to the 501C3 fund. Overall, the Drag Defense Fund has raised over $1.5 million for the ACLU.

The latest American seasons of the Drag Race franchise recently wrapped up with the conclusion of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Season 8, with Canada’s Drag Race favorite Jimbo winning the crown, scepter and $200,000 cash prize. Other fan favorites, including LaLa Ri, Jessica Wild and Monica Beverly Hillz also captivated audiences with their performances, with La La Ri winning the title of Queen of the Fame Games, which came with a $60,000 prize.
