Shadow And Act RISING Award winner Kelley Kali’s short film Lalo’s House has won big at Cannes.

The film has been awarded the Jury Award and Audience Award at the Diversity in Cannes Showcase, as well as the Best Actress Award for Jasmin Jean-Louis’ performance. The showcase was created by publicist/event producer Yolonda Brinkley and co-sponsored in part by Viola Davis and Julius Tennon’s JuVee Productions.

“Thank you so much to @ms_yolonda for creating this showcase and to all of the sponsors who helped make this happen,” wrote Kali on Instagram, adding a congratulations to fellow filmmaker Tayo Amos’ film On the Clock winning Best Actor for Victor Munoz’s performance.

Kali was one of the award winners for her film at the inaugural Shadow And Act RISING Awards this February. Kali is also the first Black woman to win the Student Academy Award for a fictional film and Kali’s Cannes wins only secure her path forward as an upcoming talent in the industry.

Lalo’s House also stars Garcelle Beauvais, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Kyra Rose, Denise Milfort, Julyza Commodore, Brian Nahas, Scott Young and Paul Beaubrun.
