Shondaland’s newest ABC show will be delayed just a bit, according to Deadline.

For The People has temporarily shut down production for script retooling after its two leads were recast. Britt Robertson and Jasmin Savoy Brown will now star. Production will only be down for two and a half weeks, and since the show is a midseason premiere, it won’t impact its debut date.

The Deadline report states, “After reshooting the pilot and filming the series’ second episode and seeing Robertson and Brown in the roles, I hear a decision was made to stop and rework the upcoming scripts, which had already been completed, to better fit the new dynamic on the show.”

Described as a legal drama, here’s the show’s description: “Set in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) Federal Court, aka ‘The Mother Court,’ this legal drama follows brand new lawyers working on opposite sides — for both the defense and the prosecution as they handle the most high profile and high stakes cases in the country, all as their personal lives intersect.”

Brown will portray Allison, who is roommates with Sandra (Robertson). They were best friends in law school and now work together at the Federal Public Defender’s Office. It is unknown if the script changes will impact the show’s current stated premise.

Allison was portrayed by Lyndon Smith in the pilot and Britne Oldford was Sandra.

When we first reported on For The People, we speculated that it may be set up as ABC’s replacement for Rhimes’ Scandal. It will remain as one of three Shonda shows on the network, as she is headed to Netflix for new programming as a part of a deal.
