Tiffany Haddish has officially joined the cast of director Paul Schrader’s The Card Counter.

Martin Scorsese is executive producing the film, which also stars Oscar Isaac, Willem Dafoe and Tye Sheridan. Schrader has previously revealed in an interview that Haddish was circling the film. It is the fifth film that Scorsese has executive produced for Schrader, including 2017’s Baby Driver. 

As reported by Deadline, The Card Counter centers on “card player Tell (Isaac) whose spartan existence on the casino trail is shattered when he is approached by Cirk (Sheridan), an angry young man seeking help to execute his plan for revenge on a military colonel (Dafoe). Gaining backing from mysterious gambling financier La Linda (Haddish), Tell takes Cirk with him on the road, going from casino to casino until the unlikely trio set their sights on winning a World Series of Poker tournament.”

Haddish is one of Hollywood’s most in-demand stars of the moment. She can be seen soon in the Netflix limited series, Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. WalkerShe has also wrapped production on Jerrod Carmichael’s On the Count of Three and Billy Crystal’s Here Today.
