With "Underground" canceled at WGN America and still without a network to call its new home, the stars of the series certainly aren't sitting around waiting to find out what comes next.
Star Amirah Vann - who was your (S&A readers) top choice to play Angela Davis in a film on her life that's currently in development, has booked a recurring role on the upcoming 6th season of TNT’s crime-drama, police procedural series "Major Crimes."
Vann will play a Special Agent Jazzma Fey, who is described as a focused team player whose loyalty is tested by a zealous partner determined to score political points. No word on how many episodes exactly she'll appear in.
"Major Crimes" is a spin-off of TNT's "The Closer," and premiered on August 13, 2012. Earlier this year, TNT renewed the series for a 13-episode sixth season.
The series has been a strong performer for TNT, pulling in 10 million viewers a week across all platforms, according to Turner.
No premiere date for season 6 at this time, although seasons 2-5 all had June premiere dates, so if Season 6 follows the same scheduling, it should be premiering soon.
Vann was nominated for a NAACP Image Award for her role as Ernestine on WGN America’s "Underground," which wrapped its second and final season in May.
