Over the years, Timothée Chalamet has collaborated with Zendaya on several occasions. Naturally, they’ve developed an affinity for working together, but the Call Me by Your Name star recently expressed admiration for his industry friend.
During the production of Dune: Part Two, he spoke to GQ about the stark contrast between the first and second films, highlighting how much of a positive impact her involvement has made on the experience as a whole.
Chalamet explained that he was working with a bevy of older actors, which made him feel “without peers” as one of the youngest in the space. However, the sequel’s production was better for him due to the presence of Zendaya and younger actors like Austin Butler and Florence Pugh.
“It was so incredibly valuable to spend so much time with Zendaya and her assistant, Darnell, and when Tom [Holland] would come to set too,” Chalamet told GQ in the new cover story. “They’re level. They’re good Hollywood. They’re good-energy Hollywood. And then Austin and Florence. I feel like I’m creating a community for myself of people who care about the right things.”
Focusing on Zendaya, he adored how far she’s come as an actor.
“Look at Zendaya,” he said. “Just how much she’s able to achieve while also sort of letting everything roll off her back is mega-inspiring. She’s just doing.“
In addition to Dune: Part Two, Chalamet will star as Willy Wonka in the new Warner Bros. film, Wonka, arriving in theaters on Dec. 15.
